Palmyra is an ancient City located in the Homs Governorate of Syria, founded in the second Millennium BC and which includes the ruins of the two thousand year old Temple of Baalshamin.
In 2015, Palmyra came under the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and sadly ISIL set about demolishing the remains of the temple as it then stood. A criminal act of epic proportions.
