​Private spiritual retreat exudes tranquillity and calmness

A private Buddhist temple complex in Tangshang, China comprises five individual areas, an entry area, a meditation room, tea room which opens onto a pool, lounge and bathroom.

Beijing based architecture firm Archstudio was established in 2010 in Beijing by Han Wen Qiang and was responsible for the design.




Han Wen Qiang was born in Dalian and he received a Master's degree in Architectural Design and Theory from the School of Architecture of CAFA (China Central Academy of Fine Arts) and in addition to operating his architectural practice he lecturers in Interior Design Research at CAFA.

The 169 sq.m. structure is sited on a 500 sq.m. wetland area adjacent to the Luan river.
