New Zealand has serious electricity generation problems (of crisis proportions!). The New Zealand government retained an Australian consultant company, Frontier Energy Ltd to review all aspects of the country’s electricity system at a reported cost of circa NZ$1 million. A report was presented by Frontier Energy last May but only released to the public this month.
Rejigit has noticed much about electricity battery storage technology, in particular a significant facility which was commissioned in Ukraine last month.
We have referred this Rejigit article to the New Zealand Minister for Energy - for free!
If Ukraine’s storage system works in a time of war, similar technology would surely help keep the lights on in New Zealand at times of peak overload.

Ukraine's recent €125 million electricity storage project includes six strategically placed sites with a combined 200 MW power capacity & 400 MWh energy storage capacity. U.S. based Fluence Energy was responsible for supplying the equipment and overseeing its installation, all of which was completed within a six month period.

The system is designed to enhance grid stability, reduce outage risks, and support renewable energy integration. Ukraine’s electricity generation network has been the target of frequent bombings by Russia and if necessary, the new gridstack storage is capable of providing sufficient rapid response energy to power the equivalent of 600,000 homes for two hours.

The intelligent system is designed to enhance electricity supply security and mitigate risk of outages (brow-outs & black-outs) and grid disruptions. The system allows for the storage of electricity generated from a mix of energy sources and is intended to smooth supply fluctuations.
