​Remembering J.R.R.Tolkien

The 2nd of this month was the fiftieth anniversary of the passing of J.R.R.Tolkien.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien CBE FRSL was born in South Africa in 1892 and died in England on 2nd September 1973 aged 81.

He produced numerous phantasmagorical literary works including The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings (originally published in three volumes 1954–1955).

Bilbo Baggins was a Hobbit of the Shire in The Hobbit and a secondary character in The Lord of the Rings.
