Dame Robin White was born in 1946 in Te Puke and is presently based in Masterton, New Zealand.

She completed a Diploma of Fine Arts in 1967 at Elam School of Fine Arts where she was taught by Colin McCahon. She is a member of the Baháʼí Faith as were her parents.

In the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours she was appointed a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to painting and printmaking. In 2009 she was awarded a redesignation as a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

It is something of a mystery that Dame White is not more widely known in New Zealand and elsewhere given her extraordinary artistic talent and her prolific production.

This retrospective collection of images from a very small part of her oeuvre extends over the period 1970 – 2021.
