Windows which convert to balconies.

by The REJIGIT Blog

Amsterdam based Architecture and design studio HofmanDujardin developed an innovative window which converts into a balcony at the push of a button.

The product was engineered by French aluminium manufacturer Kawneerand.

The Bloomframe window is an insulated picture window one minute and a fresh, open balcony the next, adding vital space to compact interiors and allowing for enjoyment of the outdoors in most situations.

Think of it as the balcony window version of a murphy bed. Operated by remote control, the balcony looks like an ordinary window, except with an opaque metal panel where the lower pane of glass would normally be. Activate it, and an electric motor drive will extend out the top frame, pushing th

lower one down into the balcony’s floor all within fifteen seconds.

Bloomframe has won countless design awards including: Janus Award 2015; 1st prize Wallpaper Design Award 2009; Red Dot Design Award 2008; 1st prize Audi Design Award 2008; New York Times Top 10 Best Ideas 2008.

The Bloomframe® is constructed of aluminium, glass and panels.

Maximum bearing weight of the Bloomframe® is approximately 350 kg per m².

Maximum product dimensions: 3000 cm x 2400 cm high.
