Road travel has become more comfortable in the U.S.

SleepBus is a new U.S. startup company and their first SleepBus recently made its inaugural trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The twenty bed Volvo sleeper coach picks up passengers from Caltrain station in San Francisco’s South of Market neighbourhood at 11:00 p.m. and drops them off at Santa Monica Pier at 6:00 a.m. Passengers are able to sleep in until the 7:30 a.m. checkout.

The vehicle has a lounge area, free coffee and tea, free WiFi and sheets from mattress startup Casper on its twin sized beds. Rejigit checked the cheapest available short-notice air fare San Fran Int’l to L.A. Int’l at NZ$282 compared to the SleepBus fare of US$49 / NZ$69 and the road journey is approximately 616 km.
